While the role and usefulness of lectures continue to be subjects of debate and disagreement among academic staff, perhaps few would dispute the claim that the goal should be effective student learning. The overarching question of the following discussion is therefore, 'What do lecturers need to do in order to achieve the same goal, namely that of effective learning in lectures, for disabled students?'
