Placements, study abroad and field trips

"Whereas in Britain I would have to walk down the street, in St Petersburg I could jump on a trolleybus or tram and ride down the road..."

How does your department organise placements, study abroad or field trips in a way that takes cognisance of the needs of all students, including those with impairments?
Where problems are identified, before or during the placement, study abroad or field trip, which would make its completion impossible or unduly difficult, can students be offered any alternative experience with comparable educational/social outcomes?
